Heather Chaney serves as Director of Programs at Friends of Cancer Research (Friends), a Washington, D.C. based non-profit organization dedicated to accelerating the nation's progress toward prevention and treatment of cancer by mobilizing public support for cancer research funding and providing education on key public policy issues.

Ms. Chaney has over ten years of experience working in healthcare and government relations. Prior to joining Friends, she served as manager of government relations at the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) dealing with Medicare and uninsured issues. Before joining BIO, she was with the Health Insurance Association of America in the federal affairs department.

Ms. Chaney graduated with distinction and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, VA
